Not to be corny but: The Lover's Revenge

So when the idea of a torture scene came up, I was hoping for something like Hostel (2005) or maybe Goodnight Mommy (2014). But I think that's a little much. So we're gonna just do something with a finger or an eye probably. Lame, but it gets the job done.
With that being said, it might seem like our genre is basically horror, but it is technically dark-fantasy. Dark-fantasy, described by Charles L. Grant, is "a type of horror story in which humanity is threatened by forces beyond human understanding". This, in essence, is basically supernatural horror. What differentiates supernatural horror from horror is that it is centered around events/beings that are believed to be fictional. For example, a story about a serial killer is horror (because it is realistic), while a story about a ghost would be supernatural horror.
Witches definitely fall under the category of supernatural horror. Some witches are not inherently evil, according to Wikipedia, and that is what we are basing our character off of. It might seem strange that she is torturing someone if she is not evil, but there is a "method to our madness" as the kids say these days.
As of now, we are going through with "The Revenge Plot", which is exactly what it sounds like. The Writing Studio site says it is "retaliation by the protagonist against the antagonist for real or imagined injury."
Our main character is an immortal witch, of course. She had a lover back when the Salem Trials of 1692 were happening and many women were being executed solely because someone said they were a witch. Her lover was a beautiful woman, who just so happened to have a husband. Eventually, the husband found out about their affair and told the Church his wife was a witch. Soon after, she was executed, and to this day, our protagonist seeks out men who looks like the husband and tortures them. Thus, it is retaliation by the protagonist against (lookalikes of) the antagonist for an injury, as the definition states.
The background story for the revenge isn't concrete, however. This is just my idea for it, and I hope my partners like it enough to stick with it because I know I do. Cute homosexual witch seeking revenge for her lover? Sign me up.
